EcoTimber is
the pioneering distributor of wood products certified to the rigorous
environmental and social standards of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). EcoTimber was founded in 1992 when after seeing the destruction of the tropical rainforests, Jason Grant and partners started to import sustainable tropical timber from remote community-based forestry operations. These tropical small-scale operations were the
first to be certified by the Rainforest Alliance - several years before the
launch of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC).
EcoTimber
believes they can bring positive change to the way forest ecosystems are managed
worldwide by offering wood products that come from 3rd party independently
audited sustainably managed forests as well as recycled and rapidly renewable
products such as bamboo and cork. They are also committed to providing customers
with high-quality, beautiful, and healthy products that are free from toxic
materials. EcoTimber seeks to remain on the cutting edge of environmental
awareness and action.
As of 2012, EcoTimber is also part of TW Flooring Group, which includes Tesoro Woods, Dasso USA, Wood Floor Resource Group (WFRG).
