World’s first high performance, zero-toxin, zero-VOC paint

Mythic Paint - DRYWALL PRIMER - Starting as low as.....

It is estimated that 10% of the ozone depleting substances in the urban United States come from paints and other surface coatings. The majority of these substances are VOCs or volatile organic compounds and they are the cause of not only thinning ozone but also the rise in global warming and increased respiratory related diseases and cancer. And the off-gassing doesn’t just end when the new-paint smell wears off – up to 50% of the toxic gasses and carcinogens from VOC containing paints leak into your home up to six years after it dries on your wall.

Mythic Paint is the only paint manufacturer chosen by the U.S. Regenerative Network as part of their sustainability and resource sourcing efforts in the US. The Network has two goals: (1) helping members measure, goal-set and improve in their organizational sustainability, and (2) bringing members to the green building marketplace of design professionals and buyers. The U.S. Regenerative Network offers affiliates (Corporations, Architects, Designers, Builders) a vetted opportunity to see best of breed manufacturers and service providers.

Mythic® Paint interior products are also tested and certified by Berkeley Analytical. These products meet or exceed environmentally determined testing standards and are environmentally preferred over traditional paints and coatings. These products are compliant with the CDPH emissions standard specified for low-emitting Paints and Coatings under the Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS) and the LEED programs.
Fortunately for the planet now we have Mythic Paint –the World’s first high performance, zero-toxin, zero-VOC paint. So now we can enjoy both our beautifully decorated homes and our beautiful planet.

OSMO Park Lane

Getting Started with OSMO Hard Wax Oils

Wood that is used indoors is subjected to wear and tear. Therefore it needs protection that won't impair the natural properties of the wood. Wood must be allowed to "breathe" so that it retains its elasticity and has a positive effect on room climate
Once an Osmo interior finish has been applied, the wood retains its natural appearance and feel. While is surface will become hard-wearing, non-abrasive, water-repellent, and dirt-resistant. It will be protected against everyday accidents of water, wine, beer, cola, sodas, etc. Should any minor damages occur, surfaces can easily be touched up with no visible brush marks.
Colors allow a lot of flexibility, using different shades , including the clear coat in with the initial coat.

Original Polyx-Oil (3054)

Paperstone: Green, Strong & Durable

Why Paperstone?

PaperStone® is a sustainable composite made from 100% post-consumer recycled paper and PetroFree™ non-petroleum based phenolic resins. PaperStone® is VOC-free, including formaldehyde, and emits no radon gases, the second leading cause of lung cancer in the United States. It has been certified ‘food safe’ by NSF, the public health and safety company. PaperStone® is extremely rigid and dense. It is the greenest composite material available to designers and architects for many applications including: countertops, bathroom vanities, conference tabletops, signs and plaques, window sills, cutting boards, furniture, restroom partitions, cabinets, indoor and outdoor wall cladding (RainStone™) and more.

PaperStone® is one of the few architectural solid surface material certified by the Smartwood program of the Rainforest Alliance to FSC standards for using 100% post-consumer recycled paper. Accordingly, PaperStone® plays a role in enabling a building project to acquire LEED points toward certification.

PaperStone® is the greenest sustainable composite material available on the market today. It is priced to compete with other solid surface products, but the ease of workability can equate to savings on installation. Experienced woodworkers with carbide–tipped woodworking tools may even install PaperStone® themselves. PaperStone® comes in natural earth-tone colors that are soft to the touch and offer a warm, distinctive ambience to any room, unlike the cold feeling of granite, marble or other solid surfaces and laminates. PaperStone’s non-porous surface provides a lifetime of stain resistance and the product absorbs virtually no water. Surface cuts or mars may be sanded or rubbed out with a Scotch-Brite™ pad and treated with PaperStone® Finish or other quality hardwood finish products. PaperStone® contains no petroleum-based chemicals such as Polyester, acrylic or bauxite (coal) fillers. PaperStone’s superior strength allows innovative, cantilevered design capability and up to 18” unsupported overhang with 3/4” material. And, unlike some granites, PaperStone® emits no radon gases. It is heat resistant to 350°F and has been certified ‘food safe’ by NSF, the public health and safety company.

Richlite - Strength and Beauty

Richlite Strength Compression
Richlite was originally developed for the aerospace industry, later distributed as a commercial kitchen surface in the 1950s.  More recent applications have been for use in residential counters and limited architectural applications.

Commonly specified in countertops, wall cladding, wainscoting, window sills, stair treads, bathroom partitions, guard rails, partition doors, cabinet doors, furniture, menus, signage, exterior cladding, rain screen, siding, kick plates, and more.  Richlite is also certified for indoor use in residential, school and institutional environments by GREENGUARD Environmental Institute and under NSF Standard 51.
Inherently natural feel with a mottled pattern. The finish out of the mill is similar to leather, when sanded it can be incredibly smooth and silky.  Richlite can be milled easily, like wood, but is much more dense and durable.  Richlite may even be milled into a smooth round sphere.
Alternative to granite and other non-renewable high carbon footprint natural materials. The paper used by Richlite is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), a global non-profit organization devoted to encouraging and monitoring responsible management of the world's forests. Richlite comes from readily renewable wood resources.
High strength to weight ratio with chemical and thermal stability to 350 F, making it stain, water, scratch and heat and bacteria resistant.  Richlite doesn't degrade nor does it off-gas.

Kirei Board

Kirei Board is a strong, lightweight, durable, environmentally friendly substitute for wood – usable in furniture, cabinetry, casework, and interior design elements.

Its manufacture is more involved than that of particle board, as the stalks are first woven tightly and then heat-pressed with an adhesive. Designed to be strong, lightweight, environmentally friendly and sustainable, Kirei Board is intended for wall coverings, cabinetry, furniture, flooring and other decorative and finished products.

  • Environmental Benefits - reduced forest clear-cutting, air pollution (zero VOC) and landfill use.
  • Reduced Waste & Deforestation – stalks that once were discarded or burned causing landfill waste & pollution are now substituted for wood

Whey is the Way!!! Now available in Matte finish

Vermont Natural Coatings

Polywhey is a popular natural alternative for wood and surface applications.

Waste not Want not.....Turning a Waste into a Product

The development of PolyWhey®  reduces the dependence on petroleum-based products and turns a by-product into a new natural product. Whey, a by-product of cheese making, has a high BOD (biochemical oxygen demand) that can increase the burden on waste treatment facilities and can pollute rivers, lakes, and even the ocean. By reformulating whey into a durable, natural wood finish, a potential waste product is taken out of the waste stream and put to a useful purpose.

Features:
  • Durable coating seals and protects
  • Coverage of 500-600 sq. ft. per gallon
  • VOCs less than 180 g/L
  • Scratch and chemical resistant
  • Can be applied over oil or water-based stain or finishes
  • Non-yellowing
  • Clear finish for maximum visibility of wood grain
  • Easy, single product application
  • Dry time under 2 hours
  • Neutral odor
  • Fast, easy cleanup with soap and water
  • Made from a renewable resource

Mythical Paint - No VOCs!

Mythic paint is based on a breakthrough technology that improves on latex paint at its core. It is scientifically formulated to offer all of the premium qualities of conventional water-based paints without the need for toxic solvents. No toxic solvents means no toxic smell.

Some VOCs are greenhouse gases and therefore contribute to global warming and others are just plain bad for your health. While a few VOCs occur naturally from cows and trees, many come from manufactured products such as paint thinners, paints and varnishes and dry cleaning solvents. These VOCs can contribute to human illnesses and have been determined to be a cause of ‘sick building syndrome’. The EPA has found concentrations of VOCs in indoor air to be 2 to 5 times greater than in outdoor air due to paint and other products.  VOCs are typically reported as grams per liter on the side or bottom of paint containers. The average gallon of paint contains at least 150 grams per liter of VOC.

Mythic Paint is a zero-VOC, Zero-carcinogenic, premium quality line of latex paints. Mythic provides and requires a Zero-VOC colorant system that maintains zero-VOCs and provides bright and beautiful colors.

Mythic® paint is a non-toxic, ultra low odor paint that provides the durability and coverage you expect from a premium paint without the off-gassing VOC’s and cancer-causing toxins that emit years after drying.  Mythic Paint was developed in cooperation with the University of Southern Mississippi.   The guaranteed high-performance paint is available in a 1,232-color palette and in all sheens for interior and exterior use.

Meanwhile, Mythic Pro ™ is designed specifically for use by painting professionals. Mythic Pro TM meets criteria for coating used in LEED ® certified buildings. Mythic Pro ™ was developed for rapid commercial application and has no cancer-causing toxins or VOC’s that can off-gas for years.

Who doesn't love chocolate?.

Archaeological record shows that Native Americans, Greeks, and Koreans, among others, charred the bottoms of wood posts to protect them from rotting — but it wasn't until the 1990s that it was applied on a production-level scale. First developed in Finland, the manufacturing technology for what is called "thermal modification" has since spread globally.
This super wood has the following attributes:
  • zero toxicity
  • medium to dark brown color (here is where the chocolate comes in)
  • soft grey color with uncoated exterior TMW
  • dimensional stability
  • highly durable
  • no warping, very stable
  • pleasant odor
  • brittle, not good for joists and posts
  • holds glue well
  • no rotting
  • no pests

Whey-Based Sustainable Floor Coating

Why Whey?
PolyWhey has greater durability, with a cured hardness that is twice that of the average water-based finish. It also has 25% less VOC content than the standard that most water-based finishes try to meet. PolyWhey accomplishes this by using whey, a natural, renewable resource, as its bonding agent.

Vermont Natural Coatings collaborated with a University of Vermont team of chemists, and through dedicated research and innovation, developed a better product that meets the market’s performance demands and directly fulfills the Green Building industry’s needs. Through the use of recycled whey proteins, Vermont Natural Coatings has created professional products to make application safer for workers and healthier for all.
